Goechala Trek : Thrill & adventure


The GoechaLa trek is at an altitude of 16,207 feet and the third highest mountain, Mt. Kanchenjunga.

The trail leads to the famous Kanchenjunga National Park, where you can experience authentic nature enough to invigorate your senses. April and May are the ideal months to see the mountains clearly. The sky is clear at this time of year and you can enjoy the view of sunset and sunrise.

Itinerary for the Goechala Trek Collapse All Day 1

Driving to Yuksom (5,670ft) from Bagdogra Airport/NJP (7 Hours)

As you travel from Bagdogra Airport/NJP to Yuksom, take in the breathtaking sights of the Himalayas to set the tone for your great journey.

 You will go beside the raging Teesta River on your drive to Yuksom, after which you will ascend a hill and cross a bridge in Legship.

When you get to the town, check into a hotel and go to bed.

Day 2

 From Yuksom to Sachen, hike (7,150ft)

 Time: six hours Approximately 8 km Height: 7150 feet

 The climb to the Goechala Pass will begin today! Early in the morning, begin climbing and follow the Rathong River’s gorges.

Walking through the dense undergrowth in a forest of ferns, rhododendrons, and magnolias, head for the Paha Khola Bridge.

Enjoy a picnic lunch along the way to keep yourself going for the rest of the hike; be on the lookout for exotic orchids, vibrant flowers, and monkeys as you hike! When you get to Sachen, set up camp and call it a day.

Trekking from Sachen to Tshokha (9,700 ft.) (via Bhakim/8,600 ft.) 

on Day 3

Time: 5 hours 7 kilometres Height: 9701 feet

 You will pass through fragrant viburnum plantations on your trip for the day, cross the Prek Chu River, and then go upward for two to three hours to reach Bakhim.

After continuing your upward climb, you will eventually arrive to Tshoka, a settlement for Tibetan refugees, where you will spend the night in a camp.

Day 4

Trek through Phedang (12,050 ft) from Tshoka (9,650 ft) to Dzongri (12,980 ft) (5-6 hrs)

 Time: 5 to 6 hours 3.2 kilometres. Height: 12050 feet

On Day 3 of the Goechala trek package, you’ll be hiking uphill and through lovely rhododendron forests; you can anticipate well-maintained pathways along the route.

 After a short hike from here, you will arrive in Dzongri, where you will spend the night in campers.

Day 5 Trek from Dzongri (12,980 ft) to Dzongri Top (13,675 ft) and down, taking an hour, before continuing on to Thansing (12,930 ft) via Kokchurang (12,100 ft) (5-6 hrs)

Time: 7-8 hours 7–8 kilometres Height: 13675 feet

 Prepare for another beautiful uphill hike after breakfast at the Phedang campground, and with You will cross 4,000 metres in the Himalayas during the Goechala Pass Trek!

With this amazing accomplishment, take in your packed lunch and unwind amidst the beautiful landscapes to help your body adjust to the higher elevations.

 The Thansing overnight campground area, from which you can enjoy spectacular views of the Koktang, Rathong, Kabru, Khangchendzonga, Simvo, and Pandim peaks, is finally reached after a final ascent and some downtime.

Trek from Thansing (12,930 feet) to Lamuney (13,700 feet) on day six (2 hrs)

 Time: two hours 4 kilometres Height: 13700 feet

After waking up, you have the option of lounging all day in camp or embarking on a quick exploring mission nearby.

The day is crucial since you need to adjust to the higher elevations before increasing in height.

 Enjoy your overnight stay in campgrounds.

Day 7

Trekking from Lamuney (13,700 feet) to Goechala (15,100 feet) and then returning to Kokchurang (12,100 feet) (10-12 hrs)

Time: 10 to 12 hours 18 kilometres Height: 15100 feet

 In order to avoid the harsh weather that can impede your progress later in the day, start the day early.

 You will descend to Samiti Lake after ascending through the moraines, after which you will traverse the Zemathang Plateau.

 From here, you will start climbing over a moraine once more, and after about an hour of hiking, you will arrive at Goechala Pass ViewPoint 1.

 As you approach this spectacular pass, take in the breathtaking views of the Kanchenjunga and other distant peaks. start making your way back towards Kokchurang to set up camp for the night.

Day 8: Trek via Phedang (12,050 feet) and Kokchurang (12,100 feet) to reach Tshoka (9,650 feet) (6-7 hrs)

 Time: 7 hours 16 kilometres Height: 12900 feet

 Early in the morning, after waking up, begin your trip back to Tshoka while taking in the breathtaking views of the Kanchenjunga Peak from a neighbouring ridge.You’ll be avoiding the steep ascent today by travelling through the Dzongri Plateau. Prek Chu and the Phedang deciduous forests are both traversed by the trail.

Day 9 Trek Yuksom (5,800 ft.) – Tshoka (9,650 ft.) via Bakhim (8,600 ft.) and Sachen (7,200 ft) (6 hrs)

 Time: 6 hours 15 kilometres Height: 5670

The concluding part of this Goechala trip package, Yuksom, is where you’ll be arriving today after crossing the Prek Chu River and descending.

 When you get in the area, check into a nearby hotel and then enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure.
